"Could not find repository" pop-up error when opening through File > Recently Opened

Bug Description
If I try to open repository /home/user/my_code through File > Recently Opened > my_code I get a "Could not find repository" pop-up error.
Opening /home/user/my_code through File > Open works fine.

The deeper bug behind this is that the "recently opened" function does in fact not work. It always opens the last opened repo, even if you select another one. I see this consistently on gitg 0.2.4.
