Bug Description

Binary package hint: gitg

When you select a commit which has a long line (as often happens with git-svn imports), the gitg window tries to resize the window to fit it. That can mean stretching the window horizontally to be wider than your screen. It should continue to hide the overflow as is done when the commit is not selected, and it should certainly not resize the window.

I am unmarking this as a duplicate, as bug #636314 currently denotes two bugs. I will change that one to only be reporting the bug about gitg ignoring linebreaks.
