gitg writes lots of warnings/errors to terminial

when launching gitg from terminal the following message appears over and over again:

$ gitg

and then
`menu_proxy_module_load': gitg: undefined symbol: menu_proxy_module_load
(gitg:2696): Gtk-WARNING **: Failed to load type module: (null)
over and over again, with gitg 0.2.2-0ubuntu1~natty from pasgui's PPA.
