From this state, I go to the "select branch" menu and select "credentials".

The application the dies. It prints the following text in the terminal on which I started it:

(gitg:27775): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_get_value: assertion `VALID_ITER (iter, list_store)' failed

(gitg:27775): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.22.3/gobject/gtype.c:3942: type id `0' is invalid

(gitg:27775): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: can't peek value table for type `<invalid>' which is not currently referenced

If I don't select the deleted file before switching branches, the switch succeeds.
