Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

the gimp crashes frequently after a few seconds of use.. i ran it from the terminal and got these messages before it crashed.

(script-fu:15174): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: gimp_wire_read(): error
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

my specs:
AMD 64 Turion processor
nvidia GeForce 7150M / nForce 630M (GPU 0) graphics
2 GB RAM
using Fluxbox on ubuntu 9.04 with the latest updates

Thanks for the link Milos.. i followed the instructions and when i run "run gimp", it starts up and once i reproduce the bug, everything freezes, i can't hit ctrl-C in the gdb window. i have to go to another virtual terminal, log in and killall gdb..

when i do that, this is what i get in the debug text file (if you see a line with just quotation marks, it means the line above it repeats for around 20 or more lines):
