gimp is in english with a french environnement

I've install gimp in my french Kubuntu 5.04
Gimp is in english. I search a solution on the web, and I find that language-pack-fr
and language-support-fr must be install to have gimp in french for ubuntu, but in my
kubuntu this packages are installed.
In my konsole, the result of echo $LANG :
fr_FR.UTF-8
I test this on 3 others Kubuntu, I've same problem.

- locale
- strace -e open gimp 2>&1 | grep MESSAGES

this does NOT happen with German localisation...

I have Kubuntu installed in a French locale and Gimp talks French fine.
