Bug Description

Binary package hint: ghostscript

I am using karmic with all updates installed, trying to print 4 PDF files from within Document Viewer on a printer that was disconnected during the time I submitted the jobs. (jobs went into the print queue, then I turned the printer on) The result was horrible: I got a couple of pages that looked like barcodes. The printer I was trying to print to is a HP Laserjet 4000.

I have the same issue as of late. When I use my Samsung printer with SPLIX, 10.04 Lucid amd64 updated today, I cannot print a pdf file using evince.

Here's the https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/537970 bug report.

If I take the pdf file, convert it to ps using pdf2ps and then to pdf using ps2pdf, it works just great, and prints everything flawlessly.

How can you close valid reports? If this is fixed, please reference the exact bug fix, otherwise open this ... I hate this recent closing policy, where more and more valid reports - even confirmed one - are just closed, because nobody cares anymore!
Did you see my last comment? It is still happening on natty!

Sorry, I have overlooked this comment.

It is possible that this bug is fixed in the most recent Ghostscript (9.04). So I want to ask you whether you could download a live CD of Oneiric Alpha3, boot from it, do all updates, and then try to print your files. Does it work?
