Bug Description

After pressing <Enter> to boot the kernel, small green writing that appears to say:

  Loading kernel/vmlinuz. . . . .

or something similar shows across the top of the screen. This corresponds to the first 3 lines that would normally be displayed by the bootloader while loading and constructing the kernel and initrd.

This is on a ThinkPad R52:

  $ cat /var/lib/acpi-support/*-*
  70ET40WW (1.04 )
  IBM
  185869G
  ThinkPad R52

with i945 graphics and the screen scaling defaulting to 'stretched'.
