Bug Description
Binary package hint: gfxboot-
If you insert an Ubuntu cd and boot it you don't know which version it is until the desktop is loaded which takes some time with a Live CD. I don't know if the alternate shows it before installation but I think so.
Anyway it would make sense. Of course you can mark your disc or check the label under a working OS but it is not always possible or the case.
So if you insert and boot the cd there should be a short text label which shows the version.
I think it would be great but not so important if the splash screen has a version number in the right corner or something like that too. Not just for the live CD but in general. So John Doe realizes that he uses Ubuntu 8.04.2.
Since the Logo of Ubuntu doesn't change with new releases it would make sense imho.
