Bug Description
Trusty complains about there not being an install candidate, although the package is apparently referenced by another package. Here is the input/output from the console:
apt-get update
[...lots of downloads..]
apt-get install geoip-database-
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package geoip-database-
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

Thanks for taking your time to report this issue and help making Ubuntu better.
I tried to reproduce the issue here on an Ubuntu 14.04 vm, but I was able to install the package without problems.
One thing I noticed is that this package is part of the multiverse repository. Could you please take a look in Software & Updates (software- properties- gtk) to see whether this repository is enabled?
Also, could you run `apt-cache policy geoip-database- contrib` and add the output here. It would tell us where apt-get attempts to look for the package.
