Bug Description

Please remove the -dbg packages: This is the only divergence from Debian (I'll check for the other fix you apply). This package hasn't seen any crashes. The homepage has been removed a while ago, so there isn't any upstream activity anymore and there won't be any development for this software. So IMO there is really no need to diverge from Debian here.

What was the sense of "resolving" this as opinion without even commenting on it or discussing this?

I'm speaking as part of the team, that maintains gelemental for Debian. The debugging symbols have been added although we refused to do this and they have never been used -neither in Debian nor in Ubuntu. We can easily recompile this small package and disable stripping to get a backtrace if there will ever be a crash.

"This package hasn't seen any crashes." So it is not of the upmost importance, "So IMO there is really no need to diverge from Debian here." "IMO" is "In My Opinion" so "Opinion" is correct. You may modify it in favour of an opinion, but there is not really and need to do either.

The meaning of "opinion" in launchpad is a bit different to this. It means: the package maintainers consider the issue as closed, but users are free to continue the discussion. It stands for a different opinion between the reporter and the package maintaiuner. Again: I'm speaking as part of the debichem team and I havn't seen at least a comment on my request.
