To reproduce the bug you have to open two files in two different way. I mean, first open a file from gnome-terminal, then open another file with nautilus, and then close the latest opened file (If you close the first file, gedit doesn't crash).

Thank you for your bug report, what desktop environment and theme do you use? Does it happen every time? I can't confirm it there

I use Gnome Shell and modified version of Ambiance theme, but i can confirm that bug also happens in Unity with standard theme.

This bug is probably related to Nautilus, anyway i've made a short screencast so you can better understand the problem:

the gdb log seems to disagree with that:

" File "/usr/lib/gedit/plugins/sessionsaver/__init__.py", line 84, in _update_session_menu
    _("Recover '%s' session") % session.name,
UnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xc2 in position 2: ordinal not in range(128)"

ok, I can't confirm that there, I don't get those warnings "(gedit:6452): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_list_store_set_column_types: assertion `priv->columns_dirty == 0' failed" either on opening, it might be due to the way your gedit is configured (i.e having a left pane and maybe some other options turned onà
