Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

Hi,

I can copy (select) a text but not paste it with the wheel mouse in gedit. However if the text is selected in another application and then paste in gedit, it works.
I guess this is a bug since I have no problem to copy paste under Gnome-terminal or Epiphany

gedit 2.17.3
Ubuntu Feisty Fawn

Best regards

Thanks for the bugreport.

Actually
1. select text from somewhere else and paste to Gedit works,
2. select text from Gedit and paste to somewhere else works,
4. select text from Gedit and paste it into another Gedit buffer does work,
3. but select text from Gedit and paste it into the same Gedit buffer does not work.

Feisty, x86.

It still does not work when the insertion point is at selection end.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Write ABC.
2. Select AB.
3. Paste between B and C.

Expected result:
[AB]ABC (selection in brackets)

Actual result:
ABC (no selection)

Workaround (clumsy):
1. Insert a space before C.
2. Paste after the space.
3. Erase the space.

Reverting to confirmed then.

1) Right-click on desktop and chose: Create document-> New Document -> Empty File.
2) Open the new file with gedit and type some text.
3) Select the text with the mouse cursor and left-click after the text.
4) Then press the middle-mouse button to paste the text.

Nothing happens when I complete step 4). It works fine in firefox and in this message that I am currently writing.
