The settings that I am talking about can be reached by selecting "File"->"Print..." from the main menu, then selecting the "Text Editor" tab. The settings are under the label "Text Wrapping". These settings seem to be independent of the standard text wrapping settings found in the "Preferences" dialog.

I launched gconf-editor to search for these settings. I believe that the settings found in the "Print" dialog correspond to "/apps/gedit-2/preferences/print/page/print_wrap_mode" and the settings found in the "Preferences" dialog correspond to "/apps/gedit-2/preferences/editor/wrap_mode/wrap_mode". The check boxes in the "Print" dialog do modify "print_wrap_mode" and not "wrap_mode". The problem is that the printing mechanism uses "wrap_mode" when it should use "print_wrap_mode".

The problem isn't with the syntax highlighting option. The problem is with the text wrapping option. The check boxes that control these settings are labeled "Enable text wrapping" and "Do not split words over two lines".
