Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

Release: 8.10
Version of Package: 2.24.2-0ubuntu1
I expect: When I search and replace "ß" (to change to ß for html) I want all "ss" left unchanged.
What happens: "ss" is also replace as if it is an "ß"

Confirmed. A workaround is to use the "match case" option. Is this a bug or feature?

As feature it should be noticed somewhere.
There is no connection between case and symbol or ligature.

Found in gedit 2.30.2 , i think, it's a bug. ß is not the same as ss in german.
It's not a feature. Yes you can use "Klein- und Großschreibung beachten" to solve it, but german ß is not a uper case.
