Bug Description
Binary package hint: gedit
I am using gedit to write / debug a numerical code in C on Ubuntu 8.04. The code generates a lot of data in a large number of output files.
In a recent run, 9000 files were generated in the "output" directory. If I set "output" as the working directory in Gedit, it freezes (the screen greys out and one of my processors hits 100%).
I am using the "file browser pane" plugin. I think this may be causing the problem by loading a list of files in the directory. The problem persists even with the browser sidepane closed. Is there any way to make the browser plugin more efficient? Nautilus seems to handle the task much more efficiently.
