Bug Description
To reproduce:
Open 2 gedit instances.
Select some text in one instance and press control-c.
Focus the other instance and press control-v, it doesn't paste the selected text.
When the "edit - copy" button is used, the text does get copied, and can then be
pasted in the other instance with ctrl-v or "edit - paste".
Using Hoary / 5.04
