Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

When pressing the hotkey "ctrl+s" the "goto line" action is triggered insted of the "save file" action
"ctrl+i" will also correctly trigger the "goto line" action.

I doubt this is related to
#17276 gedit : ctrl+s != hot key save
#17233 gedit : Many keys suddenly bound to incorrect actions

> do you have "desktop effects" activated?
no, I just tried changing to compiz and back again (via system->preferences->appearance->visual effects). still same error with gedit

$ ps ax | grep metacity
10681 ? S 0:00 metacity --replace
10730 pts/3 S+ 0:00 grep metacity
$ ps ax | grep compiz
10732 pts/3 S+ 0:00 grep compiz

Thank you for your bug. Do you use the editable menus option? What shortcut is written next to the menu action? Do you think it's possible that you pressed ctrl-S when the menu item was selected and then changed the action?

I read about customizable menus, but I don't know where to de-/activate the feature.

AFAICT I have not activated it.

I will post the german labels, as that is what is Displayed:
Gedit -> _Datei -> _Speichern = Strg+S
Gedit -> _Suchen -> Gehe zu _Zeile = Strg+I

I tried highlighting a menu item and use Strg+something to change the hotkey. As expecte, It did not work, as I assume the feature is not enabled.

Looks like Ctrl-I is correctly set for the "Go To Line" option

do you have several keymap listed in the GNOME configuration? that might be due to bug #23244 or something similar

Does it happen if you have only one keymap configured?

ok, I removed the other mappings and the bug seems gone. Readding the neolayout breaks it again. Readding the simple german layout does not. So the bug seems to be with the neostyle, which AFAIR is not officially supported by ubuntu. So thx for walking me through this. Unfortunately there does not seem to be an updated version of the package: http://eigenheimstrasse.de:8668/space/Computerecke/NEO-Tastaturlayout/Download/GNU-Linux?

Are there any bugs related to this one I coud subscribe to?

This is the neo-de package installed on my system.
