after entering path where to open file user has no idea which directory he_she is in

Bug Description
The path needs to be displayed at all times (there's no case where the user wants to be lost in an unknown directory). If entering the path fails, there seems to be a fallback which can't be determined, i.e. the user needs to guess from the directory structure or use `gedit` on the command line for certain pathes exclusively.
