Bug Description

Binary package hint: gedit

it would be a nice feature if one could become root while gedit already runs. it is annoying to have to exit gedit and start it again with gksudo gedit.

(i have seen this feature in kde - seems useful.
it just requires an additional menu entry and a dialog with the user to type in the root password).

thank

Pedro, those reports are linked to 2.17 and 2.15, however Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 still doesn't have this implemented.
It would be a nice addition to the new 8.04 release

Yes that's the version that the reporter was using at the time, but anyways I've increased the version of the upstream report to be SVN trunk. thanks.
