Opening gedit with an instance already running does nothing

Bug Description

I clicked on gedit (Applications-Accessories) because I wanted to open another
instance. I figured
it would open a new gedit, or at least open a new tab or transfer focus to the
already-open gedit. However,
it did nothing at all. This should be changed to do something like one of the
things I mentioned above.

I've been testing this upstream and it's coming along. However I do suggest
changing the default behavior mentioned in the upstream bug. The default
behavior is to open a new tab instead of a new window, which is better but not
what a users expects (see initial bug description). Default behavior in the menu
should use --new-window.

This upload fixes the bug:

 gedit (2.10.1-0ubuntu1) hoary; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release:
     - open a new document when launching another instance (Hoary: #7560).
     - do not open a document in another workspace.
