Bug Description
Am using ubuntu 14.04, gedit 3.10.4--i just installed gedit-plugins from synaptic. While enabling the latex plugin in edit->preferences and trying to disable the zeitgeist plugin, gedit closed unexpectedly. The problem was repeated when i again opened gedit and attempted to disable the zeitgeist plugin
Also gedit file menu does not remember any of the last opened files-- so the zeitgeist plugin is of no use to me even when it is enabled.

Please assign this bug to technical team, this is closing gedit and keeping this pulgin enable making gedit very slow

Just FYI, i was working on a java file in gedit and i tried to disable plugin and gedit crashed.... but then i closed that file first and then closed gedit. i opened gedit again without anyfile open and i tried to disable this Zeitgeist plugin and it worked.
So my fellow users can try this workaround.

I don't know how to apply patch.
Have found workaround for this bug.
I go to "system settings" in ubuntu 14.04 -->"security and privacy" and
disable all.
Then i open gedit and disable the zeitgeist plugin and close gedit

That patch has been released in bug 1477983 - please mark as duplicate if this fixes the issue.

Disabling some other plugins like multi edit, latex , join-split lines, synctex etc solved the problem of crash/unexpected closure of gedit--seems like these newly enabled/installed plugins were causing the problem and may not be compatible with each other or buggy. There needs to be some sort of rating for them--whether they are alpha, beta or fully tested.
Zeitgeist plugin can now be enabled/disabled without crashing/unexpected closure of the gedit application
