Autoreplaces acents for chinese symbols

Bug Description

When i open documents saved with acents, this appears as chinese symbols, gedit autoreplaces the charateres to thers
e.g. {ñ á etc}

Thank you for your bug report, what Ubuntu version do you use and what locale? Can you add an example of problematic file to the bug?

what's the output of "locale" on a command line?
