gedit produces unexpected error messages

Bug Description

sometimes gedit gives error messages as follows
--
(gedit:6471): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_tree_selection_get_selected: assertion `GTK_IS_TREE_SELECTION (selection)' failed

(gedit:6471): Gtk-WARNING **: Ignoring visual set on widget `gtk-tooltip' that is not on the correct screen.

this usually happens when I move the gedit window to the monitor I want it on

Note: I have a dual monitor system
