I can confirm this issue.

Since the color chooser has been removed I guess that the spaces color will be got from gtksourceview theme. If yes, someone can tell me how to set this color in my colorschemes?

Thank's

I found the solution.
The color of spaces was moved into gtksourceview scheme in a tag named, and
to see the spaces in the View menu now have a option to mark when or not see non printable chars (Show White Spaces)

Now I see. There is a menu option (view > show white space) that you have to also select. Also, all the options on the plugin were un-selected by default.

Damn that is confusing.

You need to add something like this to your theme file:

<style name="draw-spaces" foreground="tinted_grey"/>

Look in the cobalt.xml file in /usr/share/gtksourceview-2.0/styles for an example of a theme which does this. More info here: http://www.codeistry.com/blog/2009/05/choosing-syntax-highlighting-colours-for-the-draw-spaces-gedit-plugin/

Why was the color chooser removed?

Some of the options should be enabled by default, and "Show White Space" should be enabled by default.

I just built gedit-plugins-2.26.1 from source and installed it.
The draw spaces plugin, when activated, had precisely this default value:
"Show White Space" marked under "view" and draw spaces/draw tabs marked in the plugin configure.

Ubuntu 9.04/ Gnome 2.26.1
