Binary package hint: gedit-latex-plugin
When the embedded preview pane is open, recompiling the LaTeX code to PDF using Ctrl+Alt+2 will reset the document's position to the first page, causing the user to scroll all the way back to the page it was editing.
This only occurs when the LaTeX compilation run is taking longer than a second so that the 'Preview not available...' text is shown.
