pressing enter after password fails only clicking on icon sign in works

Bug Description
On Bionic new installation the behaviour is observed
On login screen
Enter password
Use keyboard and enter to log-in
Expected results user is logged in
Actual results log-in never starts
The following way manages the user to enter the session
On login screen
Enter password
Use mouse click on the icon sign in
The user is successfully signed in

This sounds like it might be related to bug 1766137 or bug 1765261. You might need to wait till we have fixes for those.
Although since you have found a way to log in, that's good news.
