Bug Description
Ubuntu Artful Aardvark (development branch)
Release: 17.10
gdm3:
Installed: 3.24.2-1ubuntu2
Candidate: 3.24.2-1ubuntu2
Version table:
*** 3.24.2-1ubuntu2 500
I was having issues with pre-alpha 17.10 and nvidia proprietary drivers, 4.0.10-22 kernel, and gdm3 which I finally sorted out, but wanted to test the newest kernels and the newest nvidia drivers.
so, I switched video drivers to nouveau to start with(hoping for best compatibility with gdm3 and newer kernels) and updated to kernel 4.11.6... then after an apt-get update and autoremove, I noticed, but ignored an error and updated to kernel 4.12 rc5 to test.
upon reboot again, no issues other than this error message. Thought I'd report it in case it's useful, but doesn't seem to be causing any issues w/ my system... yet.
system boots normally and gdm greeter appears to work as usual... Cinnamon Desktop doesn't have any issues and Google Chrome seems fine. Just throws an error upon login and Cinnamon Desktop startup.

I just noticed the error log submitted shows Linux 4.10.0-20-generic x86_64... so, not sure if this is related, but when trying to update from 4.10.0-20 to 4.10.0-22, gdm3 would NOT load with the newer kernel or even 4.11.6 kernel with the latest nvidia drivers... but, after an update, 4.10.0-22 magically worked with the nvidia drivers. So, perhaps this error is from that crash.
If so, then the issue has resolved itself.
