Bug Description

with autologin set to false in /etc/gdm/custom.conf I am able to use gdm. However if I set autologin to true, it crashes at startup with the following error:

gdm-simple-slave[1605]: CRITICAL: gdm_session_direct_get_username: assertion `session != NULL' failed

I can confirm this bug still exists in Precise:

I must input password twice to login.

Maybe it can be fixed by gdm 3.0.4-0ubuntu16. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/805154

This bug is still going strong after more than a year.
