Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
This issue is struggling me for already ~ 2 months or so, so I decided to collect the data and report and HOP[E THAT SOMEONE will actualy do something, not just say usual stuff / crap like "your package is non genuine ubuntu package" or "use the packages that are native for your distribution and version" et cetera ...
So, in most cases this non-responsiveness / freeze occurs after:
1. Opening Opera 11.01 ( latest for Ubuntu ) if FireFox 4.0 is opened ;
2. Machine Uptime, lomger than 12 hours ( in idle ) ...
Result sometimes, after freezing and thus waiting is that GDM is crashed and automatically I am dropped to bash ( w/o GUI ).
In this non-GUI mode there is line with message saying "Plymouth: crashed".
After runniing "/etc/init.d/gdm restart" system successfuly launches Gnome and PC is usable again.
This issue occurs with various kernels ( MGTK 2.6.36 ; .37 ) and various Fglrx ( previously with AMD Catalyst 10.12 ; now with AMD Catalyst 11.3 ) versions. I simply do not know what are my options.
Please inform what logs you need.
