Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Since 1992 when I started using *NIX operating system the Tabulator key has been serving to submit the username and get to the password prompt at login. This functionality has disappeared/changed in Lucid.

Steps to reproduce:
(0. Set up Ubuntu to ask for user/pass at login. I.e.: disable autologin, disable user list at login.)
1. Start up Ubuntu or log out from your existing session.
2. Enter your username.
3. Hit TAB
4.
- Expected behavior: username is submitted, password prompt appears.
- Actual behavior: username is not submitted, TAB moves focus to next UI element (which is Cancel button).

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
gdm 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu2
