Bug Description

Unable to login after upgrade to 10.04 - the keyboard and mouse are frozen on logon screen.

1) Description: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
Release: 10.04

2) (don't know which package)

3) Expected to be able to choose login and input password

4) Keyboard and mouse are not reponding (both are PS/2 ones)

Attached are log from /var/log/gdm, hope they help.

I'm unable to get to virtual consoles (Ctrl-Alt-F1,Ctrl-Alt-F2, etc), but able to login by SSH.

It looks like your system isn't detecting the keyboard/mouse. Do you have a USB keyboard you could try with? Also, since you can get in via SSH, please try a "sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" to try to reset your X settings.

Nope, no USB keyboard/mouse. And dpkg-reconfigure doesn't help.

Borrowed USB keyboard, did the test. The keyboard seems to be detected:

# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 1241:1503 Belkin Keyboard

Looking through udev log, I see that all three devices (USB keyboard, PS/2 keyboard, PS/2 mouse) are detected, but still doesn't work.

After upgrade (but befire reboot) I installed lubuntu-desktop and remove ubuntu-desktop,

Attached are xorg and udev logs.

Thanks for the report, it has been some time without any response or feedback in this bug report and we are wondering if this is still an issue for you with the latest release of Ubuntu the Natty Narwhal, May you please test with that version and comment back if you're still having or not the issue? Please have a look at http://www.ubuntu.com/download to know how to install that version. Thanks in advance and sorry for the late response.

Since I had no problems upgrading 10.04 -> 10.10 -> 11.04, this bug seems to be fixed already.
