Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
I have my /home encrypted (and on a separate partition), when I select my only user to login as by pressing "Enter," my kernel panics and is unresponsive (to raising skinny elephants).
If I select a user with the mouse and click, it doesn't freeze until I hit "Enter" after typing in my password.
I have to get past this by quickly entering a TTY and logging in there, first, switching back to GDM, and I can log in normally.

thank you for your bug report, do you still get the issue if you uninstall plymouth? it has some known issues leading to such crashes
