Binary package hint: gdm

There is no way to display, change or customize a GDM welcome message. This feature was lost with the introduction of the new gdmsetup in karmic.

Seb, this is very true. I never found the welcome message very useful. I was simply thinking of issues that may arise due to this change (backwards compatibility, issues with upstream etc.). If this feature is not wanted by our developers, why mark it as "Wishlist"? Can we confirm that a consensus has been made on this to ditch the idea/concept of a welcome message. Has this been documented anywhere (mailing list, changelogs etc.)?

not sure if there is a consensus and what upstream decided, ubuntu didn't rewrite gdm but we are not adding that option back to the configurator...
