Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Files in /var shouldn't have md5sums. This is an inofficial debian policy. Only static files have md5sums. (See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=542346) It's required for daemons, who automatically repair packages, when debsums -c reports them.

Remove these 3 lines in md5sums file to fix the bug:
c1bcdc16f9604e7e45558f67b085aae6 var/lib/gdm/.gconf.path
d175650982f056945f563598f335807f var/lib/gdm/.gconf.mandatory/%gconf-tree.xml
f9ba8e92e40bf6797c3c07dab0b1c62f var/lib/gdm/.gconf.defaults/%gconf-tree.xml

I've created a debian package with my patch and installed it. Everything works fine and the bug is fixed.

there is no need to add patch in the title, you might want to subscribe the ubuntu-main-sponsors to the bug though
