Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

Installed Stoner Edition 1.1 (9.04 variation) and dist-upgrade to 9.10. Installed grub2.

On reboot the screen flashed on and off several times, became stable with normal background but no login.

Hard shut down and reboot. Hit recovery mode. Do file check and grub and resume normal. A couple flashes and got a login that was trying to auto login (I don't do that), this failed, got warning that it failed, login remained with auto option and user option. User login worked fine. Here I am.

This is the 11th OS on this external enclosure for two 320Gb WD HDDs. No raid. / on sda and /home on sdb as can only boot from sda. Have had minor problems with grub2 on 2 of 4 9.10 variations on this drive. The most recent was with a fresh install of A4 but it was strictly a grub problem and not any thing to do with GDM.

No modification has been done on the display for GDM on this installation.
