Bug Description
Binary package hint: gdm
Hi,
I just did a full-upgrade on Karmic, and this fetched a new GDM which took me from 2.20.10-0ubuntu3 to 2.26.1-0ubuntu1. At some point during this upgrade (postinst?) the GDM greeter was spawned on top of my open session. This is a problem in itself, but an additional problem is that the session was unresponsive - I couldn't move the mouse cursor or interact with it via the keyboard at all. I tried to switch to the VTs to kill the greeter from there but the keybinding was also non functional for some reason. In the end I had to use my laptop to SSH in and kill the greeter from there. None of these things should happen.
Regards,
Iain
ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
Date: Fri Jul 3 10:57:51 2009
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10
Package: gdm 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
ProcEnviron:
PATH=(custom, user)
LANG=en_GB.UTF-8
SHELL=/usr/bin/zsh
ProcVersionSign
SourcePackage: gdm
Uname: Linux 2.6.30-10-generic x86_64
I also saw a gdm greeter spawned during an upgrade, and I can reproduce this with `sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm`. It is not unresponsive for me, though; I can log in as myself to return to my session.
