gdm autologin doesn't

Despite having the following in my /etc/gdm/gdm.conf:

AutomaticLoginEnable=true
AutomaticLogin=scott

gdm gives me the login screen. There's a brief black screen before it, could
this be a login attempt?

same problem here, seems like gdm-autologin is missing two files in /lib/security :

pam_stack.so and pam_console.so

this upload fixes the issue:

 gdm (2.8.0.0-0ubuntu4) breezy; urgency=low
 .
   * debian/rules:
     - install debian/Xsession, fix the Default choice (Ubuntu: #11942).
     - install debian/gdm-autologin.pam, fix the autologin (Ubuntu: #12012).
