Bug Description

I'm testing Ubuntu GNOME Vivid 20150224 and I'm doing some follow up testing possibly related to bug #1425350.

I find that simply choosing to log out results in a nearly blank screen and it's not possible to call a TTY, so a hard reset is needed to reboot and start over.

Switching to lightdm with the lightdm-gtk-greeter makes logging out work OK but then the screensaver stops working altogether.

Screenshot attached of the "nearly" blank screen - only the top "panel" appears and both mouse and keyboard appear to be "locked".
