I'm using a Thinkpad X230 with Ubuntu 14.04. Sometimes I'm using it in an environment where I want to be certain, my laptop is silent (i.e. a library or a meeting).
1.) So I press the hardware mute button during the boot sequence.
2.) Upon pressing the hardware key a small LED assures me that the device is, in fact, muted.
3.) After logging in via gdm, when the gnome-shell session spawns, the light is turned off automatically and the system is unmuted.
The behaviour in 3) is unexpected. |
