I frequently make huge jpeg images using hugin. In ubuntu natty, oneiric and precise I was able to view them using geeqie. In quantal I get a black image insteadand the preview is filled with static.
Will attach a huge jpeg image to this bug report you can try to reproduce the bug with.

I frequently make huge jpeg images using hugin. In ubuntu natty, oneiric and precise I was able to view them using geeqie. In quantal I get a black image insteadand the preview is filled with static; Seems like what triggers the bug is the size of the image in pixels, not in megabytes.

I frequently make huge jpeg images using hugin. In ubuntu natty, oneiric and precise I was able to view them using geeqie and shotwell was able to import them. In quantal geeqie shows a black image instead filling the preview with static. Shotwell on the other hand complains about a hardware error.
Seems like what triggers the bug is the size of the image in pixels, not in megabytes.
Did attach a huge (2897X2113) jpeg image to this bug report you can try to reproduce the bug with.

Did attach a 2897X2113 jpeg image (20120612_191629-20120612_191723.jpg) to this bug report the bug can be reproduced with. After opening the same image with the gimp and exporting it as jpeg it can be viewed again.
