Bug Description

Summary:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
GDecrypt is broken when installed alongside Truecrypt 6.3a

When attempting to install Truecrypt 6.3a after GDecrypt, the following error is received
... "Error: Breaks existing package 'gdecrypt' dependency truecrypt (< 5)"

You can work around this error by installing Truecrypt manually from commandline.
... sudo dpkg -i truecrypt_6.3a-0_amd64.deb

However, a new error is received when using GDecrypt to mount LUKS partitions
... "No truecrypt support available (unsupported version)!"
... "Decrypting /dev/sdb1...failed: Probably truecrypt device but no truecrypt support available!"

Bug encountered on:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala amd64
gdecrypt_0.7.2.2-0ubuntu1_all.deb

truecrypt_6.3a-0_amd64.deb (truecrypt-6.3a-ubuntu-x64.tar.gz)
Downloaded from http://www.truecrypt.org/downloads

Steps to Reproduce

1. Install GDecrypt
2. Install Truecrypt 6.3a from .deb or installer
... *Truecrypt will complain about error conflict and not install *
... "Error: Breaks existing package 'gdecrypt' dependency truecrypt (< 5)"
3. Install Truecrypt 6.3a from commandline
... sudo dpkg -i truecrypt_6.3a-0_amd64.deb
4. Launch GDecrypt and attempt to mount a LUKS partition
... *GDecrypt fails to mount LUKS partitions. Errors received*
... "No truecrypt support available (unsupported version)!"
... "Decrypting /dev/sdb1...failed: Probably truecrypt device but no truecrypt support available!"

Additional Update...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is possible to install Truecrypt 6.3a first and then install GDecrypt 0.7.2.2 without encountering any install errors.
However, GDecrypt will still be broken.

You will still receive the following error when attempting to mount a LUKS partition with GDecrypt
... *GDecrypt fails to mount LUKS partitions. Errors received*
... "No truecrypt support available (unsupported version)!"
... "Decrypting /dev/sdb1...failed: Probably truecrypt device but no truecrypt support

I realize this is ~2yr. old, I am looking at other bugs reports in gdecrypt.

Ubuntu 9.10 is out of support since April 30, 2011, I suppose you have upgraded since.
Truecrypt is also now at version 7.1.

Marking as invalid.

If you can reproduce this with the latest stable release of Ubuntu or its current development release, please open a new bug. At t he moment of this writing another bug prevent gdecrypt from working at all, see Bug #872967.

Changed in gdecrypt (Ubuntu):
