Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdebi

When i first install Ubuntu 10.10 all was fine i could install anything from a .deb file, Once i applied all the updates however i get this error every time i try to install from a .deb file:

"dpkg: unable to read filedescriptor flags for <package status and progress file descriptor>: bad file descriptor"

I have been able to confirm this by reinstalling 10.10 3 times and with many other .deb files.

I have attached a screenshot of the issue.
