When configuring packages related to GNOME, take 100% CPU

Bug Description

When running update manager almost all packages update in a timely manor except packages with GNOME such as gnome-games etc. These packges take a long time (>60sec) to configure and cpu monitor shows 100% cpu time.

The problem here is gconf and how it is used in gnome. I'm reassigning.
