Not sure if this problem is related to this bug, but on a 12.04 installation, gcompris starts normally in a full screen mode when launched from Dash Home. However, when the gcompris icon is pined to the Dash Dock on the left, the application starts in a windowed mode.

If unrelated, i can file a new bug report

does this ever occur in trusty or later?

FWIW, I cannot reproduce it in trusty here.
