current workaround is to lower the optimization level to -O1, works
with current gcc-snapshot.

Version: 4.0.2-8
Hi, I re-checked on paer with
$ gcc -v
Using built-in specs.
Target: hppa-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../src/configure -v
--enable-
--enable-shared --with-system-zlib --libexecdir=
--without-
--program-
--enable-
--with-
--enable-mpfr --disable-werror --enable-
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.0.3 20060128 (prerelease) (Debian 4.0.2-8)
it builds (and selftests) fine again with -O2.
