Bug Description

I am using Kubuntu Dapper with the newest updates installed and whenever I try to copy a file using Krusader, gam_server uses about 10% of my CPU at a constant level. This will stop if I quit Krusader but reoccurs if I restart Krusader. When I kill the process gam_server and restart Krusader, the CPU usage is ok but again jumps to 10% if I copy a file again. This also happens after I start amaroK.

What I also noticed is that gam_server often uses up to 10% of my CPU when I am just surfing the web. The usage drops immediately but these peaks exist.
This hasn't occured under Breezy and I also compiled my own version of gamin using the source file from gamin's homepage.
None of these problems occured with my "own" version of gamin.
Then I don't even notice the process in "top" because it doesn't even use the CPU very much.

So I draw the conclusion that something must be wrong with the ubuntu or debian specific package of gamin.
Maybe there is something wrong with the polling options?

What version of Ubuntu do you use? Does it happen with GNOME? What version of gam tarball did you build?

I built this version:

I am using Kubuntu Dapper Drake and therefore I don't use GNOME. But I don't believe that this is a KDE or GNOME specific problem since the self-built package works and the package that is included in the dapper repository doesn't - at least not for me.

do you have the issue if you rebuild the package?

I can't reproduce it any more. I rebuilt the package included in the repository but I couldn't notice any differences between this package, the binary package and the source package from gamin's homepage.
So CPU usage seems to be ok but I still don't know why it jumped to such a high level a few days ago.
