Bug Description

Frequently, when I insert a USB hub with two HID devices (Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse), one of them fails to initialize, and I get a "submit error report" dialog. Removing and reinserting the hub usually fixes the issue. I found a crash report and attached it, but not sure if it is for the same issue or for something else.

P.S. the same issue happens if the hub with keyb/mouse is inserted directly into the laptop, or into a monitor which in turn is connected via USB-C port (power, video, usb)

There has been an overhaul of the logitech plugin that happened in the 0.9.x series of fwupd. Most of these Logitech problems should be fixed.
By chance, could you compile master to confirm if this behavior is resolved?

@superm1, I tried to compile fwupd master on Ubuntu Zesty, but wasn't able to because other libs were not available (btw, seems that appstream-glib build steps in the readme are outdated). Is there a pre-built package for Zesty anywhere that I can simply use? Thanks!

Yuri,

Nothing pre-built. There's a few challenges that you're going to run into on zesty currently:

1) older appstream-glib package (so even if you lower the appstream-glib version you can't compile the unifying plugin currently)
2) if you try to build packages it's got an older debhelper that worn't work (need 10.3)
3) it's missing a patch for polkit ITS files, which will break policykit generation

That's a long rabbit hole to solve all those problems.

Can you instead run a live daily image of 17.10? It's got the 0.9.4 which may be more useful as a data point. There are still things that were fixed in 0.9.5, but if this particular bug is fixed, that would be good to know.
