Bug Description

Already reported here:

In Kubuntu 14.04 there is version 1.0.1-1 of exFAT (so far working good) and 1.0.1-2 on Kubuntu 15.04 (the one corrupting my stick).

I would appreciate some advice or info in order to fix this problem. In fact, I postponed the upgrade to 15.04 in my main system because of this bug.

Regards.

Hi,

As a workaround (sort of) I copy the files from exFAT USB to some other file system and then move it back to the USB after editing. Until now, copy/paste operations seems to be fine on exFAT but somehow broken if writing/modifying files directly on it.

Any news, info, about this please?

Greetings.

Me again.

Sad, very sad. One of the reasons I abandoned KDE 5 was this bug. Been for months with XFCE with no problems... until yesterday.

Now, this ghost came back to haunt me on Xubuntu once more. Until 15.04 there were no corruption but on 15.10 is happening again.

The scenary is almost the same: Insert exFat USB stick, it mounts normally, you can work on it and securely eject with no error... But it's too late, it WAS damaged... again. Lots and lots of CHK files, filled with garbage.

What I need from you guys, is some sort of test in order to assess if the corruption comes from (ie.) Solid, Kernel, or fuse-exfat.

Righ now I have Xubuntu 15.10 full updated. Could you please help me?

Thanks in advance.

Can it be

?

It was fixed by upstream commit

https://github.com/relan/exfat/commit/aab123c9ab1d9aec143cf92c7f1615a8e65f820b

(present in 1.2.4 release)

This should probably be backported to Xenial, as Windows by default creates exFAT with compressed upcase table.

Version 1.2.4 just entered Debian Unstable (and Ubuntu Yakkety). It would be great have it backported to Xenial at least.

Hi,
Data corruption is always very annoying!

You used an old version of exfat-fuse and new versions fix many bugs. Does this bug is still present with more recent exfat-fuse? If it is still present, can you report this issue to the upstream developer[1]?

Thanks.
