I can confirm this bug. I'm using 64bit Ubuntu 13.04 beta. The timeline opens up then freezes.

This is my output:

virtual void FriendsPlugin::registerTypes(const char*) Friends
virtual void OnlineAccounts::Plugin::registerTypes(const char*) Ubuntu.OnlineAccounts
QQmlComponent: Component is not ready
StreamModelPrivate::StreamModelPrivate(StreamModel*)
MODEL: "com.canonical.Friends.Streams"
account-service-model.cpp 266 update
static void StreamModelPrivate::onModelReady(GObject*, GParamSpec*, StreamModelPrivate*)
static void StreamModelPrivate::onModelReady(GObject*, GParamSpec*, StreamModelPrivate*) 0

macstevejb, please define "freezes". There's nothing unusual in your terminal output at all. Is it perhaps just running normally, but you don't have any messages displayed? That would be an entirely different problem than "freezing".

Robert,

It literally freezes. Opens on my desktop in a "Timeline" window but just sits in the top left quarter of my desktop. I am unable to access menus or click on the "top" "refresh" or "post" buttons. I am unable to do anything with this Timeline window, I'm not able to move it around my desktop so it is in effect "frozen".

The exact same happens on my laptop with an Intel chipset and graphics with Ubuntu 13.04 32bit installed.

Therefore not isolated incident related to a particular piece of hardware.

Are any messages being displayed? Do you have any accounts registered in Ubuntu Online Accounts?

If the answer to those questions is 'no', then I would not at all be surprised that the "top" and "refresh" buttons are doing nothing (you are already looking at the "top" and there's no source to get new messages from). "post" button should probably work though.

You can move the window with by holding down the alt key and dragging on the window. That's a known bug in the toolkit level (all Qml apps currently suffer from this), not an issue in friends. Not sure what else could be causing a freeze as I can't reproduce this.
